Comfort zone is an imaginary zone where you can stay for as long as you want doing things that you are totally comfortable about.
That’s why it is called comfort zone.
The dangerous truth is that, you can stay in your comfort zone for as long as you want but you won’t be experiencing any growth or scaling up with your business or life.
So a comfort zone is indeed a dangerous place to stay in for a long time.
For instance a baby would feel so comfortable inside the womb but what if he or she decides to stay longer than the term?
The baby won’t be experiencing life, he can’t see the light of the world and in fact, there won’t be any life.
A comfort zone is where there is a plateau, there is no growth, there is stagnation and there’s no progress.
So as an entrepreneur you certainly don’t want to stay inside the comfort zone.
The point is, when you want to step out of your comfort zone, you get to feel a lot of discomfort and fear.
It is really challenging to be able to face your fear and the feeling of discomfort and overcome it.
You are not alone. I’ve been there. I felt a lot uncomfortable doing many things that I’m doing today.
In this video, I share how I overcame my sense of fear and discomfort and how I was able to step out of the comfort zone.
Even today I have a lot of comfort issues but I am dealing with them one at a time.
There are two ways in which you can tackle the fear or the sense of discomfort.
#1 Blindfolded Approach
One way is to blindfoldedly tackle it. For instance if you have a fear of water, don’t think about it anymore.
Just jump into the swimming pool blindfoldedly, of course with all the precautionary measures, and then start swimming.
For the first time it would feel ridiculous, it would feel totally awkward, and you could even freeze due to fear. For the second time it would be a lot less fearful.
So you just have to stop thinking too much about it and blindfoldedly take action.
#2 Rational Approach
The second way to do it is to rationally approach your fear or feeling of discomfort. I personally followed this route.
For instance if you have fear of flying, you have to think about the tens and thousands of people who are able to fly for various reasons. It is something doable.
If they can do it there’s no harm in you trying it as well.
So you have to train your mind to accept the fact that you can do it too.
For instance I used to be very camera shy. And now I am shooting a lot of videos as you can see.
So if you are very camera shy, you have to take example from other entrepreneurs and see how they are doing it.
You can even talk to other people, take examples and motivation from them and get to know how they overcame their fear.
Find out how others feel about networking, or facing the camera, or launching a product – anything can be scary when it comes to doing an online business.
So it is up to you to face the fear, to face that feeling of discomfort and finally step out of your comfort zone.
The point is this – you can do it the blindfolded way or you can approach it rationally, but you really need to get out of your comfort zone if you seriously want to experience growth in your business.
If you want to expand or scale up your business you can only do it by stepping out of the comfort zone because that’s where you get to take risks, try out new things and implement new strategies.
To wrap up, I’ve shared two approaches using which you can face your fear and feeling of discomfort and step out of your comfort zone.
I wish you all the best with that.

Exquisitely timed! I’m outside my comfort zone, wrestling with coding despite zero experience and training. The tool is a labor of love, targeting fellow writers, with the goal of encouraging teamwork for enhanced support / engagement. As you noted, you just have to stare fear in the face, swallow hard, and walk toward the goal. Hey, even if I fail, I’ve learned a ton and enjoy the satisfaction of KNOWING I gave it my best shot. Thanks!
